Talia (and Kurt?) -- grocery store
Tabby was out picking up supplies for the sanctuary--toiletries for anyone who had to stay there, non-perishable food essentials too, and snacks for her and anyone else who might be working there--when Tabby saw her: A blue mutant in this neighborhood that they didn't already know? Well that was about to change.
"Hi, I'm sorry to bother you," Tabby said when she approached the other woman, tone as pleasant as it could be so she wouldn't spook her. "I just wanted to tell you that you're really beautiful."

Still, she glanced around for Kurt, for protection -- and to protect him, too -- but he must have been further behind her than she had thought; she couldn't quite spot him. "Thank you..." she replied, slowly. "And you..."

"I'm Tabby," she said, offering her hand. "I know most of the mutants around here--" the obvious ones, anyway "--so I thought I'd say hi. Are you new in town?" Tabby had already assumed so, but Talia's accent just reinforced that.

Again, Talia glanced around for Kurt. There was safety in numbers. But she also wasn't going to refuse to shake this woman's hand, so she shook.
"Talia," she replied. "We're very new in town." How much could she say?

"I'd love to take you out for coffee if you have time. You and whoever you're with." A lot of people thought Tabby was stupid--and okay, some things went over her head!--but she hadn't missed the way Talia looked around for someone else and used the word "we". "Consider me the self-appointed welcoming committee."

And that was right about when Kurt bounded (he was the only person Talia knew who ever literally earned that word) over - mostly curious, she could tell.
"A welcoming committee? Just for us?" He smiled at Tabby; he couldn't help it. She just looked so NICE.

Oh! He was blue too! How wonderful! "Clearly it's your lucky day! I'm Tabby. I was just inviting your...sister?" Sister seemed right, they were close enough in age and appearance. "--out for coffee."
no subject
"We love coffee," Kurt replied, and grinned at her -- she was so pretty and so nice! "Especially when it comes with good company."
Talia didn't roll her eyes, but she did glance around them once more, just in case this was a trap.

"Awesome. There's a cafe a few blocks from here called Team Bean. Pretty good coffee, totally mutant-friendly. I could meet you there in an hour? If that's enough time for you guys to finish your errands." She wanted to make sure they had time to drop their groceries at home beforehand. No one liked spoiled milk or melted ice cream.
no subject
"That's enough time," Kurt assured her.
"We have a friend," Talia said, quietly. "We can't go without her."
no subject
"Bring her too!" Tabby replied easily. "The more the merrier." She was someone who genuinely believed that.
no subject
"She's a ray of sunshine, this woman," Kurt said to Talia, happily.
no subject
Tabby just beamed. "Okay, so I'll see you and your friend at Team Bean in an hour!" She told them the intersection the cafe was closest to and then gave a little wave before disappearing into another aisle.
no subject
Kurt waved back, just delighted - though Talia nudged him, now properly rolling her eyes. "Calm down."
