Wade--the next morning
Theresa groaned as she woke slowly, sun seemingly angled to shine directly through her eyelids. She was sore and she grinned as she remembered why. Turning over, she reached for the side of the bed where Wade had been, only to meet empty space. That had her eyes opening the rest of the way, blinking against the light. The dread rose in a wave with each second that passed that she didn't see Wade, sending her scrambling out of the sheets to try to get out of bed.
"Wade?!"
"Wade?!"

The tightness in her chest subsided a little when she heard his voice and she took a deep breath. Calmer now, she managed to get up without bringing all the bed linens with her and padded out to the kitchen in only a t-shirt. Well, a t-shirt and all her bite marks and bruises from the night before.
She went up on her tiptoes to kiss Wade where he sat on the counter but stopped short, looking down at the cat in his lap. "Where did that come from?"

Theresa was beautiful. Achingly beautiful. Sometimes Wade looked at her and he saw the most pure thing he'd ever seen in the world. The bruises just made her beauty more prominent.
"It followed me home," Wade said, innocently, leaning forward to try to get that cut-short kiss.

She kissed him--how could she not? Theresa lived for the way he looked at her. "Why do I not believe you?" That didn't stop her from petting the cat, though.

"Because you saw the collar?" He offered, smiling. Okay so maybe he had commandeered the cat. But it looked so angry at the world, and Wade could relate to that. And look! Now it loved him. "You'd look great in a collar."

"Of course I would." Theresa preened. Just a little. "Though you're the one with the tendency to wander off, so maybe we should get you one. It could have a little tag that says Property of Theresa on it, with our address on the back in case you forget."

"And a bell. I want a bell. And a muzzle."
no subject
"But I can think of so many better ways to keep you quiet without a muzzle."

Wade reached down to cover the cat's ears with his hands. "Theresa! Not in front of the children!"

"This is why we can't keep the cat, because then I can't--" Theresa leaned up and whispered something undeniably filthy in Wade's ear--so the cat couldn't hear!--and then pulled back to look at him, one eyebrow arched.

Well that worked. Wade shot to his feet, placing the cat - gently! - in the sink. "Sorry buddy, I have business to attend to." He wasn't going to kick it out of the house but it could hang out without him.

"If you're going to drag me somewhere I will never stop you!" Wade chirped, staying close to her. Everything made more sense when Teresa was around. "I've been waiting years to be dragged around by you again."
